You must let suffering speak, if you want to hear the truth

It is horribly uncomfortable to feel stuck in our lives, paralyzed by self-doubt and fear or continually feeling uncomfortable in your own skin. Often times, unprocessed emotions and experiences can prohibit the natural process of healing and desired change and keep us looping in old patterns.
In our sessions, I will help you to fully process past and present emotional experiences to better understand your inner thoughts and feelings. Together we will bring a gentle awareness and understanding to any thoughts, beliefs, and behaviors that keep you feeling stuck, disconnected, depressed or anxious.
Often these beliefs and behaviors that keep you stuck or depressed have developed in response to painful or traumatic experiences from your past and were once, in fact, necessary for your survival. We will work to understand their deeper function and purpose in order to find more self-affirming and positive thoughts and behaviors that keep you feeling healthy and motivated.
Often it is through our first relationships with others that our deepest hurts and pains can originate. The therapeutic relationship is a sacred and unique place where all feelings and parts of a person are welcome, honored and validated. Over time, through the therapeutic relationship a person is able to heal these hurts and pains and learn healthier and more compassionate ways of seeing and relating to themselves and others.

The Guest House
This being human is a guest-house,
every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes
as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they’re a crowd of sorrows,
who violently sweep your house
empty of it’s furniture, still,
treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out
for some new delight.
The dark thought, the shame, the malice,
meet them at the door laughing,
and invite them in.
Be grateful for whoever comes
because each has been sent
as a guide from beyond.
